Word processor
Write a letter, minutes or a note, with headings, lists, tables and images. Then download the document as Word, PDF or OpenDocument, or send it by e-mail. Everything happens in your browser.
Open a Word (.docx, .dotx), OpenDocument (.odt), text or web page document, or drop it on this page: its formatting is kept.
Your document is written and converted on your device: it is neither sent to us nor stored by us. It is kept in this browser so you can resume later; you can erase it at any time.
Start from a template
Pick a template, then replace the text in square brackets and the logo with your own. Any document can become a template: in the editor, “Download”, then “Keep as a template”.
- Your Word documents, as they areFonts, colours, spacing, tables, header, footer and logo of a Word file are kept when you open it, and again when you save.
- Word, PDF, OpenDocumentOne click for a .docx that opens in Word, an .odt for LibreOffice, a PDF ready to share, a web page or plain text.
- Send by e-mailThe document goes as an attachment from your own mailbox, or straight into the body of the message.
- Nothing leaves your deviceWriting, converting and sending all happen on your side. Our server never sees your text.
Good to know
Is my document sent anywhere?
No. The document is written, formatted and converted by your browser, on your device. Nothing goes through our server: you can go offline once the page is open. It is kept in this browser's storage so you can resume; the “Erase from this device” link removes it.
Which formats can I download my document in?
Word (.docx), for Microsoft Word and most word processors; OpenDocument (.odt), the format of LibreOffice and OpenOffice; PDF, to share a document that no longer changes; web page (.html); plain text (.txt). Headings, lists, tables, images and links are kept in the first three.
Can I open an existing Word or LibreOffice document?
Yes. A Word document (.docx, .dotx) opens with its formatting: fonts and sizes, colours, paragraph and line spacing, indents, tab stops, numbered headings, lists, tables (widths, merged cells, shading), images, header and footer, page size and margins. It is kept when you download as Word, OpenDocument or PDF. Some constructions are simplified: text in columns, drawn shapes, floating images, tracked changes, automatic table of contents (it becomes plain text). An .odt, a text file or a web page open too, with their common formatting. Always keep the original.
How do I work from a template?
Under “Start from a template”, pick a letter, minutes, a report, a memo, a notice of meeting or a CV: the document opens, and you replace the text in square brackets. The logo is replaced like any image: click it, press Delete, then insert yours. To create your own templates, open your usual Word document or format a document here, then choose “Download”, “Keep as a template”: it then appears at the top of the list, on this device. The template does not change when you edit the document you made from it.
How does sending by e-mail work?
The e-mail leaves from your own mailbox, not from our site. On a phone and on most recent computers, the share window opens with the document attached: choose your mail app. Otherwise, the file is downloaded and a new message opens in your mail program: you just attach the file. You can also send the text straight in the body of the message. In every case, the document does not pass through our server.
Are the PDF and the Word file identical to the screen?
They are very close: same page size, same margins, same sizes, same line breaks. The Word file keeps the document's fonts. The PDF uses the standard fonts (Helvetica, Times, Courier), adjusted to the width of the document's fonts: lines break in the same places, but the letter shapes differ if your font is not one of them. A character outside the Latin alphabet, such as an ideogram, is replaced by a question mark.
