Trip journal
Give the track of your route and the photos taken on the way: they are placed on the map, and your outing becomes a video and a summary page to share. Everything happens on your device.
Your route and your photos stay on your device: the map, the video and the page are made by your browser, nothing is sent to our server.
1The route
Record the route with this page
Press “Start” when you set off and “Stop” when you arrive: the page notes your position on the way. It must stay open: do not lock the phone, the screen goes dark by itself.
- 0 mDistance
- 0 minTime
- 0Points
Or use a track from an app
Without a track, the route is deduced from the position of your photos, when your device wrote it into them.

3The look
The map images are then loaded from OpenStreetMap, which receives your IP address and the area shown. Without this box, the route is drawn on a plain background and nothing leaves your device.
4The video and the page

Do not lock the phone: put it away as it is, the screen goes dark by itself.
Screen resting, the route is still recording. Press and hold to wake it.
- Your photos, in their place on the routeThe tool reads the time of each photo and finds it on the track: each picture lands where it was taken, with nothing to set.
- A video that tells the outingThe route moves across the map, the photos open one by one, the summary comes at the end: distance, time, climb. With music if you like.
- A page to keep or to sendMap, elevation profile, captioned photos: the summary page fits in a single file, readable on any device and ready to print.
- Nothing leaves your deviceNeither the track nor the photos are sent to our server. The optional map background is the only thing requested from outside.
Good to know
How do I get the track of my route?
Most hiking, cycling or running apps record the route and can export it as GPX: Komoot, Strava, Visorando, OsmAnd, Garmin Connect, Geo Tracker… Start recording when you set off, stop at the end, then choose “Export” or “Share” as GPX. KML (Google Earth) and GeoJSON files are read too. For a short stroll, the page can record the route itself: “Start” opens a route screen, with the distance, the time and a button to take your photos. The page must stay open, screen on; pocket mode avoids accidental taps.
How are the photos placed on the map?
By time, first: each photo carries the time it was taken, and the track says where you were at that moment. Without a usable time, the tool uses the position written in the photo, and failing that, spreads the photos in order. On Android, the photo picker often removes the position from pictures given to a web page: the time is enough when you have a track. iPhone HEIC photos open in Safari; elsewhere, convert them to JPG first.
Are my photos and my route sent anywhere?
No. The track and the photos are read by your browser, on your device; the video and the page are made there. Nothing goes through our server. So that you find your journal again when you come back, the track and the photos, reduced, are kept in this browser, on your device, until you choose “Clear everything and start again”. One exception, if you tick the map background: the map images come from OpenStreetMap, which then receives your IP address and the area shown.
How long does it take to make the video?
As long as the video itself: it is recorded by your browser, in real time, and the page must stay on screen. Allow a minute for about fifteen photos. Recent Chrome, Edge and Safari give an MP4 file that plays everywhere; Firefox gives a WebM file, which WhatsApp and the iPhone handle poorly. The video can be landscape, portrait for phones, or square.
How do I share the summary page?
“Make the page” prepares an HTML file that contains everything: the map, the profile, the photos and your captions. “Send the page” opens your device's share sheet (e-mail, messaging); you can also download it. The file opens in any browser, offline. You can also print it or save it as PDF from the browser. Note: this file contains your photos and the line of your route, only send it to people of your choice.
Can this tool be in the colours of a club, a town or a tourist office?
Yes. Logo, colours, routes already loaded, page published on your site, a shared journal of a club outing: we can adapt the tool or install it on your website. Contact us.
