Internet connection test
Measure your real line speed: download, upload, response time, stability under load. Free, no sign-up, no ads.
Add your result to the connection map
Help map real-world speeds in France. Only the postcode, provider, access type and measured speeds are stored: no name, no IP address. Nothing is shown until your département has at least 5 entries.
What your connection can do
Technical details
A time of 0 ms means the browser reused a connection that was already open: no name to look up, no connection to set up.

What do these numbers mean?
Download is how fast pages, videos and files reach you. This is the figure that matters for watching television or a film.
Upload is the speed the other way: your photos going out, your picture during a video call.
Response time is the delay before the server reacts. The shorter it is, the more instant everything feels.
Jitter measures steadiness. High jitter breaks up sound and picture during calls, even when speed is good.
Response under load is measured while the line is saturated. If it shoots up, one big update is enough to break your calls: the most common flaw on fast lines.
My connection is slow: what can I do?
- Move closer to the router, or plug in a network cable: Wi-Fi loses a lot of speed through walls.
- Test again at another time. In the evening, the whole neighbourhood is online.
- Close other devices and running downloads, they share the same line.
- Restart the router: unplug it, wait a minute, plug it back in.
- If the result stays far below what you pay for, test with a cable and call your provider with these figures.
Is this test reliable?
The measurement runs between your device and our server in Europe. It reflects your connection, but also the route to that server: a very high result may be limited by our hosting rather than by your line.
For a fair measurement: one device connected, wired if possible, and two or three tests at different times.
No data is stored on our servers. Results and history stay in your browser.
A full test transfers at most 280 MB, far less on a slow line. On 4G or 5G, the 40 MB limit switches on by itself.
How do I compare Wi-Fi with 4G or 5G?
- On your phone, with Wi-Fi on: choose “Wi-Fi” and start the test.
- Then turn off the phone's Wi-Fi. Look at the top of the screen, next to the signal bars: it says 4G or 5G. Choose the same here and test again.
- The comparison appears below the results: it tells you which is faster and which responds best for video calls.
To find rooms where Wi-Fi weakens, run a test next to the router, then in the furthest room, typing the room name in the box.
On 4G or 5G the test stops by itself at 40 MB to spare your data plan. Mobile speed varies a lot with place, time and how many people are around: test in several places.

Which antenna or exchange am I connected to?
Why the test does not show it: a website can reach neither your phone's modem nor your provider's equipment. Here is how to find out anyway (French services).
- Android phone (4G, 5G): install a free app such as Network Cell Info Lite. It shows the antenna in use, the frequency band and the signal strength.
- iPhone: dial
*3001#12345#and press Call. The menu that opens gives some antenna information, more or less detailed depending on the model. - Locate the antenna: cartoradio.fr, the official ANFR map, shows every antenna in France by provider and technology (4G, 5G).
- Mobile coverage: monreseaumobile.arcep.fr (ARCEP) compares providers' 4G and 5G coverage and quality where you are.
- ADSL or VDSL: degrouptest.com or ariase.com find your telephone exchange (NRA), its distance and the line attenuation from your landline number or address. Your router's interface also shows the sync speed.
- Fibre: maconnexioninternet.arcep.fr (ARCEP) shows the technologies and providers available at your address.
