Type the name of your project, business or association: we check with the official registries whether it is free, and suggest variants.

Good to know
How do I choose a good name?
Short and easy to say: try dictating it over the phone. If it has to be spelled out, look for something simpler.
No accents: accented names exist but cause trouble in e-mail addresses and on some devices.
One hyphen at most, and no digits: people hesitate between “3” and “three”.
Think of the e-mail address: contact@your-name.com must stay readable.
.fr or .com? For a French audience, .fr builds trust. If both are free, take both: one will redirect to the other.
The name is free: how do I register it?
Buy it from a registrar: OVHcloud, Gandi, IONOS, Hostinger… Expect about €8 to €15 a year for a .fr or .com; regional extensions (.alsace, .bzh, .paris) often cost more.
Register it in your name (or your business's or association's), not your provider's: you are the holder.
Turn on automatic renewal: a forgotten name is quickly bought by someone else.
.fr is reserved for people and organisations based in the European Union, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Switzerland; .eu for residents and organisations of the European Union.
The name is taken: what now?
Look at the suggested variants: adding the town, word order, a hyphen.
The expiry date does not mean the name will become free: almost all names are renewed.
To buy it back, go through the registrar shown (holder contact form); beware of brokers asking for large sums.
Can a free name still cause trouble?
Yes, if it uses a registered trademark or another company's name: its owner could have it taken from you. Check for free in the INPI trademark database (France) before buying.
Are my searches sold on?
No. Some sites record the names people search for to buy them first. Here, only the name is sent to the official registries (Afnic for .fr, Verisign for .com…), the result is kept 10 minutes to avoid asking them twice, and nothing is kept afterwards.
