7 steps

Who is it for?You already have a site, built by you, a relative or an agency, and you are not sure it is still compliant, fast and well protected.

  1. Run the complete diagnosis

WhyIn thirty seconds you know where the site stands on seven themes, with a score per theme and the list of what is urgent.

To doType the site's address, read “Your priorities” and save the report as PDF. The next steps cover the most frequent points.

  2. Update the legal notice and the privacy policy

WhyOften missing, copied from another site or outdated (former host, former chair). It is the first thing an inspector looks at.

To doRegenerate both documents with today's information and replace the old pages. Check that the link appears in the footer of every page.

  3. The domain's e-mail: SPF and DMARC

WhySince 2024, Gmail and Yahoo reject e-mail from badly configured domains more readily. And without DMARC, your address can be spoofed.

To doRun the DNS lookup on your domain. If SPF is missing or DMARC is set to “p=none”, follow the advice shown and make the change at your host.

  4. Lighten the photos

Why4 MB photos straight from the phone make the site slow on mobile, and Google takes it into account in its ranking.

To doSpot the slow pages, compress their photos for the “website” use and replace them. Make it a habit to compress before every upload.

  5. Add the site icon if it is missing

WhyThe diagnosis flags it: without an icon, the browser tab and bookmarks show a grey square, and Google shows a globe instead of your logo.

To doGenerate the icons from the logo and add them to the site (in WordPress: Appearance, Customize, Site Identity).

  6. Change the admin passwords

WhyAn old site has often kept its initial passwords, known to several people who have since left.

To doCheck whether your current password has leaked, replace it with a passphrase, and delete the accounts of people who no longer work on the site.

  7. Run the diagnosis again and keep the report

WhyTo measure the progress made and keep a dated record, useful for the board, the general meeting or your business partner.

To doRun the diagnosis again, save the new report as PDF, and make a note to repeat it every six months.

What next?

Run the complete diagnosis again in six months, and keep the PDF report as a reference. A question along the way? A 30-minute call with a consultant is free.
